About the Theatre for the Very Young Laurent Dupont and Joël Simon

Festival guests Laurent Dupont and Joël Simon are renowned experts on theatre for the youngest audiences.

As performer and director, Laurent Dupont has dedicated himself to this theatre form for almost 30 years. He is artistic director at the Compagnie ACTA in Villiers-le-Bel near Paris, which organises one of the most important theatre festivals for the youngest audiences in Europe, “Premières Rencontres”.

Joël Simon is founder and director of the “Association Nova Villa” in Reims, which hosts international festivals and symposiums dealing with key issues of society and theatre several times per year. Showing great diligence and commitment, he has been supervising, organising and co-producing theatre for the youngest audiences for many years. Moreover, he has been the editor of numerous publications that explore theatre for young children and its artists in great detail.

We have asked Laurent and Joël to discuss the beginnings and the development of the theatre for the youngest audiences to date. The discussion will be in French, but we will naturally provide an interpreter.
