‘Talk about – play about!’ invites children and young people aged between ten and fourteen to discover the theatre and play an active part in it.

The HELIOS Theatre offers afternoon and early evening performances so that ‘Talk about – play about!’ can also be booked during leisure time. With this programme, we would particularly like to invite youth centres from Hamm’s various neighbourhoods, children’s clubs and all-day care centres to visit the theatre free of charge.

One hour before the performance begins, the groups of children and young people gather in the theatre foyer. There, they have an initial discussion about the upcoming performance, and a workshop provides a playful introduction to the play’s theme.

During the play, the young people experience theatre as a space for engaging all the senses, with an artistic exploration of a theme or story. As active spectators, they develop what they have seen and heard into their own individual yet shared theatre experience.

Following the play, the groups remain with the theatre educator. This provides an opportunity to explore the specific features of the performance and address any questions in a workshop. In guided workshops, aspects of the play are explored in greater depth and exercises relevant to the play’s theme are introduced.
